Topaz

Topaz comes in many colours, shown here in blue. Its precious form is golden to sherry orange, and Katlang, in Pakistan, is known for rare pink topaz.

Traditionally believed
Strength, and calming anger. Yellow topaz stands in for Jupiter’s yellow sapphire.
The science
Aluminium silicate with fluorine, hardness 8, yet one sharp knock can split it cleanly.
